The Tribunal

The diocesan Tribunal is an ecclesiastical court, appointed by the bishop, serving the Church primarily by determining the status of individuals and evaluating the validity of marriages according to Canon Law.

The Catholic Church is concerned about those who have experienced the pain and tragedy of divorce. Provided there appears to be a reasonable basis to enter a petition for nullity or dissolution, it is strongly suggested that persons contact the diocesan Tribunal soon after obtaining a civil divorce or dissolution, even if there is little or no thought about future marriage.
